Steeling Buildings The Raeco Building Process

So your next building project is in the works. You know you need the extra space for your expansion, warehouse, and equipment to suit your growing needs! If you're considering building a pre-engineered steel building, you might be curious about the process and how it all works.

We've prepared a guide to help you step by step through the process of constructing your next steel building. Raeco Builders has many years of experience under their belts and won't leave you hanging. Below we've simplified the process into seven steps.

Step 1 - Learn and Planning

The keyword here is learning. At Raeco, we want to understand your facility's needs and your dreams. We truly view our building projects as partnerships and want to ensure we deliver on every detail.

We'll learn about you, your company, and specific building needs and dreams in our first meetings. We have an extensive list of questions, and it's our goal to soak in all your information.

Our first meeting will end with initial ideas, impressions, and hopefully some constructive, cooperative brainstorming!

Step 2 - Estimating

So what is this steel building going to cost? This is probably the biggest and most important question we answer, for obvious reasons! The actual numbers come after extensive planning and designing takes place. Our in-house design services help speed up this process and can give us a detailed look and tour of your building before any dirt is moved.

We provide detailed and extensive proposals for review, and we are here to walk you through every page and detail to make sure the costs and all aspects of the project make sense. We'll also make sure we're clear on any loose information.

Cost fluctuation. This is a bit of a sidebar, but it's essential to help you set expectations and budget. With any scale project, it is vital to build in a budget for changes, some unforeseen, and other items that might be impossible to nail down (soil quality, material shortages, etc.) Do know we have your budget and interests at heart. We want to make sure you're getting the absolute best value and bang for your buck, and we'll do everything we can to make that happen.

Step 3 - Finalizing the Design

Once the initial proposal is approved, we will narrow in on any last details, finalizing the design before submitting it to the next step. This is a crucial step as doing this part right will lessen the possibility of future surprise costs.

Step 4 - Pre-Engineering

This step happens with one of our pre-engineered steel building partners. The submitted plans will be reviewed and engineered to ensure everything will work as planned and meet local code requirements. We will work closely with our partners to iron out any issues.

Step 5 - Steel Building Manufacturing

Once you and our partners approve the design, manufacturing begins. Manufacturing is done under one roof and off the construction site. The project plans move seamlessly from engineering to the manufacturing floor. The entire core structure of your building is constructed at a central facility. This is what sets the pre-engineered building apart and is part of how we can save you money with this process.

Once the building is complete, it will be trucked off to your building site! Usually sent out on a few semis, depending on your building size. Typically, groundwork is done, and the building slab is ready for the new building!

Step 6 - Steel Building Construction

Now is when things start to come to life. Because the majority of the steel building is already assembled, it is a matter of putting those pieces together into your completed building. Think of it as a big lego set, but instead of individual pieces, big chunks just need to be connected. Your building will start to take shape almost immediately.

Step 7 - Finishing, Inspection, and Moving In!

Once the structure is complete, things typically move pretty quickly. Insulation, electrical, plumbing, and any additional build-out can be completed and ready for any final details. As construction proceeds, we'll ensure all the required inspections and approvals happen. Then, once everything is sound and approved, we can hand over the keys!

Just like that, you'll be enjoying the benefits of having your own custom pre-engineered steel building, so you can keep your focus on growing and expanding your business.
