Connecting with RAECO
In 2019 Ideal's owner, Blake Dede, knew they had outgrown their current space and needed to upgrade to a custom building that would meet their existing needs, as well as provide room for the company to continue to grow.
"We started interviewing several different companies after identifying all the aspects the new building would need to possess. After meeting with Tom and Dave and seeing the level of organization they came to the table with, we knew they were definitely a front runner. We had some other connections with Tom (Jurgens) 's team, and many people spoke highly of RAECO Builders and their capabilities," recalled Blake. "After some interview meetings and brainstorming sessions, we knew RAECO would be a good fit for our project."
Custom Designed Metal Building
"We had a few somewhat particular design and functionality needs for our building. We knew we wanted a metal building to provide the interior structure and support we needed, but without the conventional look that comes with a metal building," Blake recalls. "Our goal was to create a coastal/Cape Cod aesthetic, and marry that with custom exterior lighting that would make us stand out to the passing Interstate and in-town traffic. We also knew we would need to meet the neighborhood covenants, and achieve all of this with the skeleton of a metal building."
Ideal also requested some unique engineering and design to complete their perfect build. "We wanted to wash all our tent tops after each rental, so the building needed to house a 15' high washing machine with a drum big enough to stand in. A 30 plus foot ceiling height was also necessary to enable us to suspend the tops while drying, but still allow the warehouse crews to pass below while loading and unloading trucks. The proposed mono slope roof design with a 100' clear span would help us achieve all of our objectives with ample room for forklifts to move pallets of staging, tables, chairs, etc. easily from one end of the building to the other. The goal was to create a seamless system where trucks could unload on one end of the building, a tent could go through the cleaning stages, while simultaneously, crews could be loading out the other end of the building. Together with RAECO, we were able to create the free-flowing and unobstructed space needed for maximum efficiency. "
"We came to RAECO with these specific needs, and they were able to come up with some great creative design and engineering solutions to get it done for us," says Blake.
Beyond the custom warehouse, Ideal also features a beautiful showroom and design room, two enhancements that were lacking before the new build. "RAECO helped us conceptualize a design space that allows us to display our over 600 sample table linen options, a full retail store for party and baking supplies, rental displays and inviting offices for customers to enjoy the experience of planning special events and milestones. With a bit of shrewd creativity, RAECO was able to combine the logistical and industrial needs of Ideal's warehouse with a customer-welcoming showroom and retail floor."
Working With RAECO Builders
Ideal has been in its new building for about nine months now (as of January 2021). "We are extremely happy with the final product!" exclaims Blake. "The one thing that stands out about Tom and his team at RAECO is their honest ,straightforward approach throughout the building process. As everyone knows, projects of this scale have their degree of challenges with regard to timeframes, obstacles and weather. Tom and Dave always made sure the process was communicated quickly and professionally" states Blake.
Speaking with Tom Jurgens, owner of RAECO builders about the process. "Blake had a budget and he was steadfast with it. We really appreciated this and it allowed us to build to his budget, and when it came to changes, we were quickly able to discuss, agree and make concessions and in the end, ultimately deliver a building that met his needs and budget" states Tom.
When it came to finishing up and completing the final details, RAECO was there and ready to help with whatever needed to be done. "This is a process and if the project is going to be successful the builder needs to become part of your team, and that's exactly what happened!." praised Blake.
