Wolf Creek Colony
In 2020 Wolf Creek Colony took the first steps in growing its manufacturing operations; the need for a new and larger building had come. Like many Hutterite colonies, Wolf Creek Colony is self-sufficient, creating many specialized and custom products onsite. Currently, they specialize in rotation molded plastic. With the new building, they were expanding into metal fab and steelwork, and a new venture into paper products.
The Building & Pour
The building, constructed by the colony, is 100' by 250' feet in size, over 25,000 square feet once complete. "The building itself was pretty straightforward, steel building," says Darius, who headed up the project. When it came to hiring for the foundation and concrete work, they knew who to call. "We've known Tom (Jurgens) for a long time and knew he'd be right for the job."
“Darius and all the people at Wolf Creek are great people,” says Tom. “Darius contacted me about the project, we met and went over what he was needing.” Wolf Creek had and still has a relationship with a building manufacturer, so Raeco helped with the process of ordering the building, and building it for them.

Once the site was ready for the pour, RAECO was ready onsite. As part of the RAECO process, each concrete truck’s concrete is tested before the pour. "In the case of our floor pour, the testing came back poor, so we turned away a bunch of materials." recalls Darius. "the testing saved us a bunch of future issues and headaches. We would have had concrete peel for certain," says Darius.
Raeco was involved in the placing of foundations, footings, and the floor at Wolf Creek. “Yes, we did have about 90 yards that we had to send back as the concrete did not pass the tests,” states Tom. “At the end of it all, this turned out to be a great project for Raeco and Wolf Creek! We wish them great success in their new endeavors!”
